How to Make Poha Recipe
Ingredients
2 cups of poha
2 Table spoon of groundnuts
3 table spoon of cashew nuts
1 onion (finely chopped)
4 green chilies (finely chopped)
2 Table spoons of oil
2 bunches of curry leaves
2 bunches of coriander
Pinch of turmeric
1 lemon
Salt as per taste
For tampering
¼ Tea spoon of mustard seeds
¼ Tea spoon cumin seeds
1Tea spoon of Bengal gram
1 Tea spoon of urad dal
2 bunches of curry leaves
Preparation method
- Take two cups of phoa in a bowl
- Pour two glasses of water
- Wash them thoroughly with 2 cups of water
- TIP: Don’t soak the poha in the water for long time, doing so will make the poha into a soft paste.
- Drain the water in the poha into other bowl ( make sure that the water is completely drained from poha )
- Spread poha in plate with holes to drain the excess water absorbed by them and keep them aside.
- Spread them on the plate
- Heat the pan on the stove and pour 2 tablespoon of oil.
- Once the oil heats up, add two table spoon of groundnuts
- Stir fry groundnuts till they crackle so that they get fried evenly.
- Tip: Groundnuts are said to fried properly when they start to crackle
- Take them in small plate.
- In the same pan, add 3 table spoon of cashew nuts and stir fry them till they become golden brown and take them plate where you have stored ground nuts
- In same pan, add ¼ teaspoon of mustard seeds and let them crackle
- Add ¼ teaspoon of cumin seeds
- Add 1 table spoon of Bengal gram and 1 table spoon of urad dal
- Mix them well and fry them for a minute
- Add curry leaves and close the lid for a while.
- After the curry leaves splutter , open lid fry the tampering by stirring it
- Now add chopped onions and green chilies and stir fry them till they become translucent.
- Add pinch of turmeric and stir fry them till the turmeric gets blended with the mixture
- Now add drained poha
- Mix it very well till they blend with mixture .
- Stir the poha till the flakes get separated from each other as they are sticked to each other when they are washed
- Add salt as per taste and mix it well, till it gets blended with poha
- Now add chopped coriander and mix well.
- Add fired groundnuts and cashew nuts to poha and mix it well till they get blended with poha
- Switch off the stove
- Squeeze lemon without seeds and add this juice to poha and mix it well.
- Make sure you mix lemon juice after stove is switched off
- Adding the lemon juice while it is hot can cause bitter taste.
- Now poha is ready to serve
